Saying that he will be conducting in Venice in September and hopes to see him there, perhaps to hear Gui's opera [Fata] Malerba, adding that he must urgently think of arranging his work for the winter as it seems impossible, in view of his age, his name, and his past, stating his determination to be independent, mentioning Boito, Rossini, Gatti-Casazza, [Giuseppe] Radiciotti, etc.
